Global lT services firm Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) has launched a new version of its cloud-based Agile DevOps product to support large-scale planning and delivery of applications.

Agile software development is a cross-functional and collaborative approach towards completing a project. DevOps is a software development methodology that combines software development with information technology operations.

The original product, Jile 1.0 was launched five months ago. It helped distributed teams (or a 'team of teams') to easily adopt agile methods for application delivery at scale.

TCS said Jile 2.0 takes it a step further, supporting multiple teams-of-teams in delivering large products in various functional areas that the customer sees, uses, and values.

With Jile's new large product layer, distributed Agile teams can manage synchronised, incremental delivery of large systems involving complex sub-products, across different technology stacks, each with its own product vision, roadmap, and release cycle, it added.

Jile 2.0 is expected to further accelerate adoption of Agile at the enterprise level, TCS said. Currently, most teams use Agile methods in a limited, lT-specific context.

The company claims that Jile integrates product management activities, such as visioning, strategic planning, and road mapping, into Agile development, thus aligning the execution with the business strategy.

"With Jile 2.0, large enterprises can embrace Agility in their operational value streams and bring in responsiveness into their delivery," said Vijayalakshmi Gopal, business head-Jile at TCS.
