Alibaba Cloud, the cloud computing arm of Chinese conglomerate Alibaba, has partnered with business-to-business IT services provider ONGO Framework to on-board up to 1 lakh micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs) by the end of next year.

According to a statement, the partnership will allow existing customers using ONGO Framework’s digital product solution to tap into Alibaba Cloud integration for cloud computing services.

Rama Kuppa, chief executive officer of ONGO Framework, said that its solutions across more than 10,000 business categories will help companies join the ecosystem faster.

“Almost one-third of Alibaba Cloud’s business comes from SMEs including those based in Singapore and Hong Kong,” said Alex Li, general manager of Alibaba Cloud, India. “We are among the top two players in cloud service providers in India and are focused on affordability for the businesses.”

Alibaba, which launched its cloud computing services in 2009, has been doubling down on the Asia-Pacific and Middle East markets of late.

With regulations on data localisation coming into force, India becomes an important geography for cloud service providers.

“Alibaba respects the laws on data security and privacy across all markets,” Li said in an emailed response to TechCircle. “Our security standards have been recognised by a number of international organisations.”

He added that Alibaba Cloud’s clients include startups, corporations and government organisations.

“Our strong expertise in e-commerce, logistics and fintech has helped us develop cloud solutions which can add value to current as well as prospective customers,” said Li. “The launch of our second availability zone in Mumbai, India, complements Availability Zone A which was opened in January this year and will offer product lines to support the requirements of local governments and enterprises in the Alibaba Cloud India Region.”
