Mobile app analytics startup CleverTap names Almitra Karnik as marketing head
Mobile app analytics and user engagement platform CleverTap, run by Mumbai-based WizRocket Inc, has appointed Almitra Karnik as head of marketing, it said in a statement.
Karnik will be managing brand strategy as well as digital, content and partner marketing along with public and analyst relation efforts.
Previously, Karnik led product marketing at Twilio and worked at companies such as Cisco Systems and EMC Corporation.
"User analytics and customer engagement should be the cornerstone of every user life-cycle strategy. The CleverTap platform recognises this market need and gives customers the best of both worlds as a single solution," said Karnik.
CleverTap was founded in 2013 by Anand Jain, Sunil Thomas and Suresh Kondamudi. Jain was previously founder and CTO of Burrp! while Thomas was CTO of Network18 Media and Investments. Kondamudi was senior manager at Network18 prior to starting up.
CleverTap offers behavioural and user engagement analytics and counts McDonald's, Star, Sony, DC Comics, DealsPlus, and BookMyShow as its clients.
It plans to expand its client base in North and South America, Asia and Europe.
In August 2015, the company raised $8 million in a round of funding from Sequoia Capital India and existing investor Accel Partners. In July 2014, it raised seed capital of $1.6 million from Accel Partners.
In the same space, user analytics and engagement platform MoEngage, run by MoEngage India Pvt. Ltd, raised an undisclosed investment from former Snapdeal CPO Anand Chandrasekaran in December 2016.
MoEngage helps internet firms deliver personalised interactions via push notifications, in-app recommendations, email, web-push and other communication channels, driving engagement.
