Google has released its new set of flagship smartphones, Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, well ahead of the year-end holiday shopping season.
Though the company did not officially disclose its India pricing, the Google Play Store page shows Nexus 5X will be priced at Rs 31,900 for the variant with 16GB internal storage and Rs 35,900 for the 32GB variant.
The Nexus 6P is featured with a price tag of Rs 39,999 for the 32GB variant and Rs 42,999 for the 64GB model.
The Play Store page doesn't say when the devices will be made available in India.
Nexus 5X and Nexus 6P, both running the new Android 6.0 operating system known as Marshmallow, have been developed in partnership with LG and Huawei, respectively.
The new Nexus smartphones, unveiled at an event in San Francisco, come with a slew of enhanced features including fingerprint sensors and improved cameras and other features including Android Pay.
Nexus 5X comes with a 5.2-inch display with full HD resolution and is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 808 processor. It sports the same 12.3-megapixel camera as its predecessor, but has an improved 5-megapixel camera at the front. It also features 2GB RAM and 2,700 mAh battery.
Both the devices sport USB Type-C reversible port for charging and output.
Nexus 6P is the first all-metal-body Nexus phone. It comes with a 5.7-inch AMOLED display with QHD (1440x2560p) resolution, a 64-bit processor, a 12.3-megapixel rear camera and an 8-megapixel front camera. It features an integrated Nexus Imprint fingerprint sensor on the back.
Both the devices are priced below the premium offerings from Apple – iPhone 6S and 6S Plus – and the high-end phones from Samsung.
India's smartphone market is dominated by Android devices. According to data provider IDC, Google's mobile operating system has an overwhelming lead over its competitors with more than 91 per cent market share in the country. Windows Phone is the second most used mobile OS in India with a market share of 5.4 per cent. Apple's iOS, which powers iPhones, has a market share of 2.3 per cent.
