Ccube Angels and Frontline Strategy invest in backpacker portal Wetravelsolo
Ccube Angels, a Singapore based angel investors' community and Mauritius-headquartered investment firm Frontline Strategy Ltd have acquired a minority stake in Wetravelsolo.com, a online platform that organises special interest tours for solo travellers.
Wetravelsolo.com, which is run by Kulmin Trocializing India Pvt Ltd, did not disclose the size of the investment.
"Wetravelsolo is a simple yet revolutionary idea - born out of our desire to explore the world. We are the first movers in the solo travel community in India and we will keep surprising and changing lives of our audience with the beauty of our concept," said Shefali Walia, co-founder.
Wetravelsolo.com encourages solo backpacking at a shoestring budget. The company connects like-minded people who can stay in touch through social networking features on Wetravelsolo.
It reviews the background of individuals before on-boarding them for a trip, keeping in mind the safety of women travellers.
"We are happy to be associated with this exciting concept which brings like-minded people together through a highly customisable and repeat revenue generating category like travel. We hope to assist Shefali and team to translate their vision into reality," said Atim Kabra, director, Frontline Strategy.
Ccube generally invests $500,000 to $3 million in its portfolio companies.
Recently, TripFactory Inc, a curated holiday package platform, had raised an undisclosed amount in Seed A funding from Aarin Capital Partners, a venture capital firm floated by former Infosys board member TV Mohandas Pai and Manipal Group chairman Ranjan Pai.
