Intex launches Octa-core smartphone Aqua Amaze with 13MP shooter for Rs 10,690 in India

IntexIntex Technologies, an Indian mobile, IT and consumer electronics company, has further expanded its Aqua range of smartphones with the launch of a new device. Christened Aqua Amaze, the smartphone sports a 5 inch display and runs on the Android operating system. It is available for purchase in the country for Rs 10,690.

In November last year, the company had announced its partnership with MediaTek Inc., a Taiwanese fabless semiconductor company for wireless communications and digital multimedia solutions, for bringing Octa-core powered devices in the country. The new smartphone is a result of the partnership, which also saw the launch of the Intex's first Octa-core phablet Aqua Octa for Rs 19,999 in Jan this year.

The smartphone features a 5 inch IPS HD touchscreen display (1280x720 pixels resolution) and is powered by a 1.4 GHz MT6592M Octa-core processor. The device runs on the Android 4.4.2 KitKat operating system and comes with 1GB RAM. The internal memory of the device is 8GB that can be further expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card.

Aqua Amaze sports a 13 mega pixel autofocus rear camera with LED Flash that can also record videos and a 5 MP front-facing camera for video calling. Additional features of the camera include panorama shot, face beauty, live photo mode, gesture capture, High Dynamic Range (HDR), voice capture, and face detection, among others. On the connectivity front, the device has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and 3G, as well as a microSD card slot and a microUSB port.

The dimensions of the device are 145.5mm x 70mm x 7.6mm. The company has provided a 2,000 mAh battery in the device that it claims will offer up to 8 hours of talk time and 240 hours of standby time. Aqua Amaze also has GPS (with A-GPS support), dual-SIM (GSM+WCDMA) capability, and a FM radio. It will be available in light blue and black colours. Intex has also pre-loaded a number of apps in the smartphone that include Intex Play, Intex zone, Opera mini, Zapak, OLX, Saavn, Newshunt, Flipkart, Clean Master, and Getit, etc.

The other Octa-core powered smartphones available in the Rs 10-15,000 price range include Obi Octopus S520 and Micromax Canvas Nitro A310 that are available for Rs 11,990 and Rs 12,990 respectively. The battle between low cost Octa-core devices in India will further heat up with the launch of Chinese handset maker Xiaomi's Redmi Note. Scheduled to make its India debut later this year, the phablet will be priced at Rs 9,999 in the country.
