Vdopia promotes Saurabh Bhatia as its CEO, Srikanth Kakani appointed CTO

Digital advertising and video monetisation platform Vdopia Inc. has announced a realignment of its top management. Saurabh Bhatia, who co-founded the company in 2007 and has since been serving as its chief business officer, has been appointed the chief executive officer (CEO). He succeeds co-founder Srikanth Kakani, who has now become the chief technology officer (CTO), a newly created position.

Chhavi Upadhyay, another co-founder, who was serving as Vdopia's chief operating officer (COO), now becomes its president, another new position.

"Under Kakani's direction, Vdopia served video ads to 63 of the top 100 ad age advertisers and expanded globally, opening up offices in nine countries. Building on the momentum set by him, we aim to innovate with greater speed, efficiency and capability in a fast-changing world," said Bhatia.

"This structural reorganisation is indispensable for Vdopia to respond with agility to the changing business environment. With these changes, we will focus on making internal and external processes at Vdopia more productive, efficient, simple and scalable," he added.

Bhatia will have global responsibilities for driving the company's growth, leading its strategy, defining the product road map and be in charge of overall revenue growth. He has over 10 years of sales and business development experience. Prior to Vdopia, he had worked at companies like Maxcellence, Peak Performance Solutions and Insways Software. He holds a B.Tech degree in industrial engineering from IIT Delhi.

As the company's first CTO, Kakani will oversee the development, implementation and growth of Vdopia's technology vision. He had earlier worked at companies like Yahoo and Electronics for Imaging (EFI). He holds a B.Tech degree in computer science from IIT Kanpur, and a MS degree in electrical engineering from Stanford University.

In the role of Vdopia's president, Chhavi will provide leadership and direction to HR, legal, accounting and finance, in addition to her current responsibilities of global operations and business development. An IIT Delhi alumnus, she also holds a masters degree in management science and engineering from Stanford University.

According to the company, the changes will position it to expand and expedite its product offerings, as well as enable it to meet the distinct demands and challenges of the ad tech industry.

Set up by the trio of Chhavi, Kakani and Bhatia, Vdopia is a mobile and online video advertising platform. Its key clients include companies such as eBay, NDTV, BharatMatrimony.com, Emirates, General Motors, Hewlett-Packard, ICICI Bank and Idea Cellular, among others. Headquartered in Silicon Valley, the firm also has offices in Fremont, New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, London, India and Singapore.

In June this year, the company appointed Daniel Ahiakpor as its vice president for business development- a newly created position in the company's New York office. Prior to that, it had appointed Ajay Prakash Mishra as director of operations for the Asia Pacific (APAC) region.

The company mainly competes with players like Komli Media, Ozone Media, Tyroo and more. In December 2012, it had raised $3.4 million in private offering from an unnamed investor.
