HTC launches One (E8) & Desire 616 dual-SIM smartphones for Rs 34,900 & Rs 16,900 in India

Taiwanese manufacturer of tablets and smartphones HTC has further expanded its One and Desire range of smartphones with the launch of two new devices in the Indian market. Christened One (E8) and Desire 616, both the devices sport 5 inch displays and run on the Android operating system.

One (E8) has been priced at Rs 34,900 and will go sale by the end of this month. In comparison, Desire 616 is a mid-price range smartphone that costs Rs 16,900 and is available for purchase as of now.

E8 Dual SIMHTC One (E8) for Rs 34,900

A plastic version of HTC's flagship One (M8), the smartphone sports a 5 inch full HD Super LCD 3 capacitive touchscreen display (1080×1980 pixels resolution) with 441 ppi pixel density and runs on the Android 4.4.2 KitKat OS with HTC Sense 6 user interface. The device is powered by a 2.5GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor and has 2GB of RAM. The internal memory of the device is 16GB (approximately 10.6GB available for user content), which can be further expanded up to 128GB with a microSD card.

HTC One (E8) boasts a 13 megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED Flash that can also record full HD videos (1080p) at 30 frames per second, and a 5MP front facing camera that can also record full HD videos. On the connectivity front, the device has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, 3G & 4G LTE (depending on the region), as well as a microUSB port and a microSD card slot.

The dimensions of the device are 146.4mm x 70.7mm x 9.9mm and its weight is 145gm. The company has provided a 2,600 mAh battery in the device, which it claims will provide over 26 hours of talk time and 504 hours of standby time. It has GPS (with A-GPS support), dual-SIM capability and Near Field Communication (NFC). It will be available in polar white, electric crimson, maldives blue and misty grey colours.

Some of its additional features include HTC BoomSound: delivers rich tones from bass through treble, producing high-quality, immersive sound through the dual frontal speakers; and HTC Sense 6 with BlinkFeed: makes the content that matters to you more accessible and easier to read than ever, by turning your home screen into a live stream of the latest news and social updates.

In the price at which it is being offered, One (E8) will compete with the likes of Sony Xperia Z1 (Rs 34,990), Samsung Galaxy S5 (Rs 34,679), Google Nexus 5 (Rs 32,998) and LG G2 (Rs 35,990), among others.

Desire 616HTC Desire 616 for Rs 16,900

This one has a 5 inch HD capacitive touchscreen display (720×1280 pixels resolution) with 294 ppi pixel density and runs on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS with HTC Sense UI. The device is powered by a 1.4GHz octa-core MediaTek processor and has 1GB of RAM. The internal memory of the device is 4GB (approximately 2GB available for user content), which can be further expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card.

HTC One (E8) boasts an 8MP autofocus rear camera with LED Flash that can also record full HD videos (1080p) at 30 fps, and a 2MP front facing camera that can also record HD videos. On the connectivity front, the device has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and 3G, as well as a microUSB port and a microSD card slot.

The company has provided a 2,000 mAh battery in the device, which it claims will provide up to 14 hours of talk time and 700 hours of standby time. It has GPS (with A-GPS support), and dual-SIM capability. It will be available in dark grey and pearl white colours.
