The smallest member of the Galaxy Tab 4 series of tablets by Samsung is now available for purchase in India. Christened Galaxy Tab 4 7.0, the tablet has a 7 inch display and can be purchased for as low as Rs 17,750 on a number of e-commerce stores. Unveiled in April this year, the other tablets in the series include Galaxy Tab 4 8.0 and Galaxy Tab 4 10.1 that come with 8 and 10.1 inch displays.

In addition, smartphone and tablet manufacturer Spice has also launched its first smartphone running on the latest Android 4.4 KitKat operating system. This one is available for purchase exclusively on HomeShop18.com for Rs 9,999.

The tablet has a 7 inch TFT LCD WXGA capacitive touchscreen display (1280x800 pixels resolution) and runs on the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system. It is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core processor and has 1.5GB of RAM. The internal memory of the device is 8GB that can be further expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card.

It has a 3 megapixel rear camera that can also record high definition videos (720p) at 30 frames per second and a 1.3MP front facing camera for video calling. Additional features of the camera include geo-tagging, panorama, sound & shot, and beauty face, among others. On the connectivity front, the tablet has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi as well as a microUSB port and a microSD card slot.

Samsung has provided a 4,000 mAh battery in the device, which it claims will provide up to 10 hours of video play time and 190 hours of music play. The dimensions of the device are 107.9mm x 186.9mm x 9mm and its weight is 281 gm. It also comes with GPS (with A-GPS support) and is available in white and black colours.

It has an 8MP rear camera with Flash that can also record full HD videos (1080p) at 30 frames per second and a 3.2MP front facing camera for video calling. Samsung has provided a 2,500 mAh battery in the device, which it claims will provide up to 4 hours of talk time and 8 days of standby time. The dimensions of the device are 74.9mm x 149.4mm x 9.3mm and its weight is 175 gm. It also comes with GPS (with A-GPS support), FM radio and dual-SIM capability (with dual standby).

S Mobility (formerly Spice Mobility Ltd) had posted almost 19 per cent rise in net sales to Rs 468.41 crore for its third quarter ended March 31, 2014 over the year-ago period, led by sales growth in its handsets unit. The handsets business saw sales rising 25.7 per cent too Rs 421.59 crore in the quarter.
