Tata Teleservices' arm MMP Mobi Wallet Payment launches e-com site mRupee

mRupee_logoMMP Mobi Wallet Payment Systems Ltd, a wholly-owned subsidiary of  Tata Teleservices Ltd that provides mobile money order & semi-closed wallet services, has forayed into e-commerce space by launching an online shopping site mRupee.

The company has also integrated a dual payment gateway to its platform, which will enable customers to pay using their mRupee wallet or via net-banking, and debit/credit cards. This service is available to both B2C and B2B customers.

mRupee also offers a retailer-assisted channel to help the not-so-technology savvy users. According to the company, this would help the customers to benefit from offers and discounts available to the online user community. This model will also enable retailers to sell their e-commerce services to walk-in customers through discounts and offers.

mRupee's portal is powered by e-commerce firm Infibeam.com, which will handle its retail back-end operations and offer over millions of branded products assortments across 50-plus product categories. mRupee has currently listed various categories including mobiles, computers, men's fashion, women's fashion, cameras, home & lifestyle, religions & spirituality, gifts, toys & games, books, and movies & music

"We see a huge opportunity in empowering customers to shop online using a safe and secured payment gateway like mRUPEE where they don't have to worry about sharing their debit or credit card details," said Pradeep Kumar Sampath, COO of MMPL.
