Junglee.com partners with classifieds site Quikr for discovery of pre-owned products on its portal
Amazon owned price-comparison website Junglee.com has entered into a strategic partnership with Quikr.com, an online classifieds site, to enable its users to find locally available pre-owned consumer electronics products on the portal. Displayed under the section titled 'Related Product Listings' on the product pages of Junglee.com, consumers will be able to view relevant classifieds for other similar pre-owned products, based on their current location.
Customers interested in a particular pre-owned product can click on the listing, post which they will be directed to Quikr.com. They can then communicate with the seller directly and purchase the product. To begin with, the feature has only been introduced in the consumer electronics category, since it is one of the most searched by consumers on both Junglee.com as well as Quikr.
Mahendra Nerurkar, general manager, Junglee.com, said, "By adding Quikr to Junglee, we have expanded the buying options available to customers, and made the comparison between new and pre-owned items across online and offline local sellers, that much easier."
Presently, customers in 10 major cities, including Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Chennai, Gurgaon, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai, New Delhi and Pune will be able to view/access this feature. The company plans to expand the coverage of categories as well as cities in the near future. Junglee.com claims to be getting over 10 million monthly visits and has over 30 million listings across 25 categories, from over 1,600 online shopping sites and 50,000 nearby stores.
"The lines are fast blurring between 'new' and 'pre-owned', especially in hyper-active categories like mobiles, electronics, etc. Our partnership with Junglee.com will ensure that our brand continues to stay visible in the larger context of buying and selling online," said Pranay Chulet, CEO, Quikr.com.
Mumbai-based Quikr India Pvt Ltd, the company that owns and operates classifieds site Quikr.com, was drawing over half of its revenues from premium listing for users as well as lead generation for businesses as of October last year. Founded in 2008 by Chulet and Jiby Thomas, Quickr was originally started as Kijiji India. To date, the firm has raised $50 million in five rounds of funding from Warburg Pincus, Norwest Venture Partners, Matrix Partners India, Nokia Growth Partners, Omidyar Network and eBay. Last year, its co-founder Thomas had quit to launch a digital marketing company called Web Butter Jam. In India, it competes with Naspers-backed OLX and Sulekha.
