Info Edge-owned Meritnation looking to enter B2B segment and international markets, attracting 4-5k signups daily

Meritnation.com, the online K-12 education platform owned by Info Edge (India) Ltd, is looking at crossing 7 million student registrations by the end of current academic year. It was founded in 2009 by Pavan Chauhan and Ritesh Hemrajani as a site focused on CBSE and ICSE boards. Later it introduced state boards and last year started offering test preparation for exams like IIT, NEET and more.

Info Edge, which runs sites such as Naukri.com and 99acres.com, had invested Rs 20 crore through a mix of equity and convertible preference shares in Applect Learning, which runs Meritnation.com, in September 2011. Prior to that, it had put in around Rs 11.5 crore in Applect during 2008-10. In February this year, it infused Rs 30 crore ($5.5 million) more in the company and acquired around 54 per cent stake.

In a chat with Techcircle.in, Chauhan, co-founder and MD, Meritnation, talks about expansion plans, monetisation channels, and more.
