After Micromax & Karbonn, Spice launches 5-inch Pinnacle FHD smartphone at Rs 16,990
While everyone is aware of the smartphone war for supremacy brewing among giants like Apple, Samsung and Nokia, it seems that the mid-range smartphone segment is waging a war of its own kind. Recently, a number of home-grown players launched their large-screen quad core offerings in the market, and now Spice has entered the bandwagon, too. The company has launched a new smartphone called Pinnacle FHD (Mi-525), which runs on the Android operating system and is powered by a 1.5GHz quad-core processor.
But the high point of the device is its 5 inch touchscreen display which is full high definition (FHD), a rarity among the mid-priced smartphone range. Here is a look at the specifications of the device.
This smartphone features a 5 inch full HD capacitive touchscreen display (1920×1080 pixels resolution) and is powered by a 1.5 GHz quad-core processor. The device runs on the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean operating system and comes with 1 GB RAM. The internal memory of the device is only 8 GB, but can be expanded up to 32 GB with a microSD card.
On the camera front, this one sports an 8 mega pixel autofocus rear camera with Flash that can also record full HD videos (1080p) at 30 frames per second and a 2 MP front-facing camera that can also record videos. In terms of connectivity, the device has Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and 3G, as well as a microSD card slot.
It measures 149.4mm x 74.9mm x 9.3mm and weighs 175 gm. The smartphone has a 2,100 mAh battery and Dual SIM support, with both having the capability to run on a 3G network. Besides, it comes with an FM radio and Spice cloud, which will enable users to get access to free cloud backup of 2GB of data. Interestingly, the smartphone also comes pre-loaded with Netqin Antivirus software to protect it against mobile malware.
The device has been priced at Rs 16,990 and it will hit the market on July 20. Note that it is already available for pre-order online as of now. In the under Rs 20,000 price range, the smartphone will face competition from a number of players that include Micromax Canvas 4, XOLO Play, and Titanium S9. See the table to get a better idea how the smartphone stacks up against its competitors, although it already has an upper hand when it comes to the display; all the other smartphones have HD display in comparison to Pinnacle's FHD one. In contrast, both Canvas 4 and Titanium S9 have 13MP rear cameras.
