Gautam Sinha elevated to COO of Times Internet

Times Internet Ltd, the internet & mobile venture of Bennett, Coleman & Co. Ltd, has elevated Gautam Sinha as the chief operating officer (COO). Earlier, Sinha was working as a director (technology and e-commerce) of Indiatimes. He had joined the company in 2007 as CTO and also headed the deployment of a new e-commerce platform.

Although the promotion has been announced today, it has been done internally and no public announcement has been made. Sinha will be based in Gurgaon and will report to Satyan Gajwani, CEO of Indiatimes. The news was first reported by Medianama.

The announcement came a couple of months after Satyan Gajwani was appointed as the CEO of TIL when Rishi Khiani put in his papers to pursue his entrepreneurial endeavours. Khiani's last day at the company is August 17. Gajwani was earlier working as the director (New Media) of The Times of India Group.

A BS in Computer Science from Birla Institute of Technology and an MS in Computer Science from the University of Iowa, Sinha has over 24 years of experience in managing different technological aspects of various companies. Prior to joining TIL, he had worked with companies like CashEdge Inc, Sevant, Aspect Communications, Neural Applications Corporation and Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO). He has also been awarded numerous US patents for his work in telecommunications and financial services.
