Paytm Changes Logo, Spruces Up Deals & More; What's New
Recharge site Paytm.com, which enables mobile, DTH and data card users to make online payments for service usage, has hit the Ctrl+R button with a redesigned website, new logo and more. Noida-based Paytm, a subsidiary of the mobile Internet firm One97 Communications, crossed the 1 million registered users' mark last November.
"We had posted about something new coming up a little while ago, but left it for you to guess what it was. You came up with such amazing ideas that we not only took notice, but also got some of them in. So here is the all new Paytm â€“ for you, and by you! We have changed our logo, design, colours and much more to keep pace with you," read an official Paytm blog post.
For users, the most easy-to-spot change happens to be the logo. While the earlier logo was a mix of orange and black, the new one is a combination of two shades of blue (probably indigo and sky blue). Even the colours of the site have been changed from dull grey and orange to white and blue (much more vibrant, to say the least) and the makeover gives the impression that it is targeted at the generation Y.
The site already offers shopping and other deals to users who recharge their communication and entertainment services accounts with Paytm, used as a hook to bring in new as well as repeat users (and quite common with other recharge sites as well). This has been retained with addition of a number of deals on the website and users can now see a highlight of the deals on the home page itself.
Once you click on them, you are redirected to the coupons page that offers a number of deals in different categories that include most popular, food, shopping, gifts and flowers, travel and more. Although the company claims to have deals worth more than Rs 10,000, the smallest deal we saw on the website as of now was worth Rs 50 while the biggest was worth Rs 5,670. Some of the deals offered on the site were on brands like Tantra, Wrangler, Dominos, Pizza Hut, Monginis, GoIbibo, Kool Skool and Naaptol, among others. But to avail any of the deals, users have to first do a recharge from Paytm.
The company is also offering recharge services 'on the go' which basically means that once a user enables recharge by phone and SMS, they can call Paytm's toll-free line (at 180018001234) to recharge their phone. Alternatively, they can also recharge by sending an SMS (at 9880001234).
Paytm had scheduled to make the changes and refresh the site late last month, but it didn't turn out to be good to go live and so delayed the launch of a redesigned site.
"We were attempting to launch a solid upgrade to our website. We've not been able to pull that off. We faced some struggles on the way and we felt that a half-baked product that would do anything less than wow you, would be not worth it. We're sorry to have so many of you waiting for the site to come back up," read the blog post.
Last month it had also enabled net-banking payment on its mobile site in addition to existing options of credit card, debit card and Paytm cash.
