Samsung Unveils Galaxy M Style and Galaxy Ace Plus

Samsung has started the New Year by further expanding its Galaxy range of smartphones by unveiling two new handsets Galaxy M Style and Galaxy Ace Plus. Both the mobile phones run on the Android operating system and while Galaxy Ace Plus should be targeted at the mid-price range segment of the market, Galaxy M Style will cost $500 (approx Rs 26,500) in the Korean market (exact launch date and Indian prices of the devices are not available as of now).

Let's have a look at the specifications of the devices.

Samsung Galaxy Ace Plus

This phone is basically an enhanced version of the Galaxy Ace and it will be made available in Russia starting this month. It will then be gradually rolled out to other parts of the world including India.

Why Russia? Remember it's B(razil)-R(ussia)-I(ndia)-C(hina) among the so called group of fast growing emerging countries.

The mobile phone has a 3.65inch TFT touchscreen display (320x480 pixel resolution), is powered by a 1 GHz processor and has 512MB of RAM (upgraded from 800 MHz and 278 MB RAM in the original Ace). The device runs on the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) operating system (with TouchWiz user interface) and the internal memory of the device is 3GB (with up to 1GB of direct storage for applications), which can be expanded an additional 32GB with the help of a microSD card.

The device has a 5 mega pixel auto focus rear camera with LED flash that can also record WVGA videos at 30 frames per second. On the connectivity front, the device has Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and comes with a USB 2.0 port. Additionally, new features like ThinkFree, a tool that enables viewing and editing of Office documents (including Word, Excel, PowerPoint and PDFs) have been included in the device. The mobile phone also comes with Samsung's Social Hub, Music Hub and ChatON (Samsung's own instant messaging service) services.

The device has a 1300mAh battery and the dimensions of the device are 114.7mm x 62.5mm x 11.2mm and its weight is 115 grams.

The mobile phone should replace the original Ace in the Indian market and its competitors will include Samsung's own Galaxy S I9000 (Rs 19,999), LG Optimus Black P970 (Rs 18,990), HTC Desire (Rs 18,599), Micromax Superfone A85 (Rs 19,490) and Sony Ericsson Xperia Active ST17i (Rs 18,990).

Galaxy M Style

The mobile phone has a 4 inch super AMOLED touchscreen display and runs on the Android 2.3 (Gingerbread) OS (with TouchWiz user interface). It is powered by a 1GHz processor and comes with 4GB of internal memory (the company hasn't provided details about the RAM).

Galaxy M Style has a 3 megapixel rear camera and a front facing VGA camera. It comes with Bluetooth 3.0 and has a 1650mAh battery. The thickness of the device is 9.9mm and it will come in Platinum Silver, Blue Black and Lavender Pink colours. We will update you with more details as soon as further details of the device are made available.
