Intel Capital and Jafco Asia-backed Vriti Infocom's educational portal Vriti has recently taken its assessment grid for test preparation national. Targeted at students across various test preparation streams, it is positioned as a 'parallel grid' where any institution or person can provide content for tests on any subjects and earn royalty.

The grid, which is a part of Vriti's Smart Education Platform, is on a cloud-based SaaS platform holding over millions of questions. Vriti is just a technology platform provider while the content comes from institutions as well as teachers or tutors who can get students across India to take their test.

The assessment programme has been there for the last few years but now the firm has expanded it nationally in terms of sourcing of content.

"Currently, the national grid is utilised to cater to the testing and assessment aspect of almost 200 courses," said, Swapnil Shrivastav, founder and chief executive officer of Vriti.

When a student enters his specific area of test preparation the grid throws up options on courses which range from Rs 100 to Rs 15,000. "The price is dependent on the course opted for. The course varies from Rs 100 single test to a Rs 1,295 full series. Besides this, there are a bunch of courses which come with digital and paper based content which are at a premium," said Pankaj Vermani, co-founder, chief strategy officer of Vriti.

Vriti has raised two rounds of institutional funding over the last three years. On plans to raise more funds, Shrivastav said that Vriti is coming out with some more products and depending on the plan for expansion the management will explore fresh funding.
