Chakrapani GK Becomes Head Of Consumer Channels Group At Microsoft India

Microsoft Corporation India Pvt. Ltd. has roped in Chakrapani GK as head of its consumer channels group (CCG). Chakrapani was till recently with Nokia in India where he was director for the mobile financial services business.

He joined Nokia India around six years ago as the country general manager for the enterprise solutions business unit and led the team to establish the smartphone and Eseries business in India. Before Nokia he was a general manager at Datacraft.

Chakrapani who was almost two decades experience in the ICT industry had also founded and managed an ecommerce startup Office Infinity India Ltd before joining Datacraft. Prior to that he worked as a general manager software services at Melstar Information Technologies Ltd.

Microsoft, better known for its software products, also has a suite of consumer products in the entertainment segment including Xbox and Kinect. Last month Microsoft launched Windows Phone 7.5 Mango In India.

Bhaskar Pramanik, chairman – Microsoft India said, "At Microsoft we are focused on three sets of customers: Businesses, Advertisers and Consumers. And today in the consumer space with Windows Phone, Windows 7, XBox, Kinect and Microsoft Office, we have a very exciting set of offerings and committed channels to reach them. Chakrapani brings with him extensive experience in the ICT industry and deep understanding of how to create scale in an emerging market."

CCG is a new group within Microsoft carved as part of a global reorganisation. It brings together Microsoft's entire consumer products and channels across retail, operator channels and OEMs.
