McAfee Promotes Anti-Virus Tools Via Facebook; Offers Free Subscription

Security vendor McAfee has joined hands with social networking site Facebook to promote its antivirus software. McAfee's security software is currently available in 41 countries including India for Facebook users.

According to McAfee, the McAfee-Facebook partnership is a first-of-its-kind security offering that represents a major milestone in the fight to secure the Internet and reduce cyber crime. As part of this partnership, the two companies have jointly created security solutions that include McAfee security software, a custom scanning-and-repair tool and consumer-friendly education materials that Facebook will make available to its 350 million-plus users.

Just visit the Facebook page of McAfee and click on 'Like McAfee'. Next, you follow some easy steps like selecting you country and the software, and you will get your subscription for free. The subscription will be valid for six months after which Facebook users can opt for additional subscription at discounted rates.

There are additional free offerings for fans available from McAfee such as a trial version of McAfee WaveSecure for protecting personal data in mobile phones and McAfee SiteAdvisor for safer Web browsing, which gives colour-coded security warning before you visit a risky site.

Already, there are more than 481,000 fans of McAfee and the number is increasing every day.

But here is the catch: Only one subscription is allowed per Facebook Account.
