Airtel Brings Live TV To Laptops
Airtel launched a new service that allows customers to watch live television on their laptops. Called Airtel broadband TV (and accessed at Airtellive.com), the service is being offered for in monthly subscription packages.
Airtel Broadband TV will offer a combination of live, movie and video on demand channels such as Bloomberg UTV, TLC, Animal Planet and all the Discovery channels. Currently there are only 28 live TV channels, 19 video on demand (VoD) and 12 movie channels available.
"Revolutionising the TV watching experience, this initiative is part of our larger commitment to offer an enhanced broadband experience to our customers. We will soon be adding more content under news, soap and infotainment categories," said Girish Mehta, CMO Telemedia Services, Bharti Airtel.
There are 3 packages - Gold, which offers all the channels for Rs 99 per month; Night Pack which also offers all the channels but only viewed at night for Rs 49 per month and the My Pack option which can be customised according to user preference - any 3 channels for Rs 49 per month.
The company has noted that there will be no charge for bandwidth consumption while watching airtel broadband TV, except for users in Noida and Punjab.
