Drug Retailer MedPlus Forays Into Beauty Products With MedplusBeauty.com
Hyderabad-based pharmacy retail chain MedPlus Healthcare Services has launched MedplusBeauty.com, a one-stop shop for beauty and personal care products, the company has said in a statement.
MedplusBeauty.com will offer a diverse and wide selection of 12,000-plus products across hundreds of national and international brands. The portal features a virtual studio (or a virtual makeover) where a customer can upload his/her image and try out various looks, besides doing a before-and-after comparison, before actually buying the products.
Incorporated in 2006, MedPlus Healthcare Services is an independent pharmacy chain with 950-plus stores across Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Maharashtra and West Bengal. The firm offers 10 per cent discount on medicines and 5 per cent on general products, and caters to more than 130,000 customers daily, according to the company website.
“Users of MedplusBeauty.com will have access to over 12,000 beauty and personal care products from a wide range of brands at the click of a button,” commented Surendra Mantena, COO of MedplusBeauty.com, on the launch of the portal.
“The domestic market for cosmetic and personal care products is pegged at Rs 5,000 crore, of which skincare alone accounts for Rs 2,800 crore, which is largely traditional and fragmented,” said Madhukar Gangadi, founder and CEO of MedPlus.
Customers can either opt for doorstep delivery or pick up their purchase from any of the MedPlus stores. Incidentally, the company is betting heavily on the current Indian e-commerce market, currently estimated at $10 billion and growing at 47 per cent CAGR.
