Twitter launches much-needed 'Night Mode' feature for Android users

Twitter Inc. has some interesting news for Android users who are most active during the night and tweet until the wee hours of the morning.

The microblogging site has come out with a 'Night Mode' feature for Android users which will help them in reading better in low-light conditions and reduce strain on the eyes. The company had tested the feature last month.

The Night Mode feature turns the background user interface from the default white to a deep blue colour. The switch from the normal mode to the night mode is not automatic and users will have to manually click on the profile icon and turn it on.

The new feature is available for all Android users but the status of iOS launch is not known yet.

Night Mode is common feature in many apps. A variety of smartphones also have an in-built night mode feature. In August 2015, Google Maps had rolled out a similar feature for its iOS application.

The microblogging site had recently announced the creation of an online application process for Twitter accounts to receive verified status. It said that it will verify accounts maintained by public figures and organisations in music, TV, film, fashion, government, politics, religion, journalism, media, sports, business and other key interest areas.
