Paytm ties up with Suzuki Motorcycle to sell two-wheelers online

thinkstock_01Digital payments and e-commerce company Paytm will now host a virtual Suzuki Motorcycle showroom on its marketplace through which customers can book the two-wheeler maker’s bike and scooter models.

As part of the partnership between Paytm and Suzuki Motorcycle India, over 400 Suzuki dealers across the country have been on-boarded.

“Consumers can now book their favourite Suzuki motorbike with the ease of a click on Paytm. Our dealerships present across the country will be actively involved in giving a great consumer experience to Paytm’s customers while fulfilling the orders,” said Satoshi Uchida, MD-India, Suzuki Motorcycle.

Once users have booked the bike of their choice, Paytm will then direct the users to the closest dealership for registration and collection. Paytm will also enable vehicle financing to provide higher degree of assistance to consumers while buying a Suzuki product.

With the alliance, Paytm expects to see more than 10,000 units sold on the platform within this calendar year, the company said in its statement.

Two-wheeler makers are betting big on online sales. In April this year, Flipkart announced its plans to commence nationwide sales of two-wheelers. The company said it would make TVS Motor’s motorcycles and scooters available on its platform pan India, and it also intends to add products from all major two-wheeler brands going forward.

Snapdeal, which initiated this trend with the launch of Snapdeal Motors platform in November 2015, has partnered with Hero MotoCorp, Hero Electric, Suzuki Motorcycles, TVS Motor and Polaris Industries to sell motorcycles.
