Punit Soni had worked as vice president in Google’s Motorola mobility division and advisor at Google for around nine years. So, when Soni joined Flipkart in February 2015 as chief product officer, it was a big catch for the e-commerce company. However, a reshuffle in the top management team in January this year left Soni’s position in Flipkart unchanged, and soon speculation started about his next move. Finally in April, Soni announced that he had quit the company. In an interview to VCCircle, Soni said: “Over the last year of being here I have come to realise I have a particular way of doing things, there is a kind of organisation and company I want to be in.” Soni has now turned angel investor and plans to start his own venture in the Valley.
