As India’s startup ecosystem moves towards a more mature phase, the entrepreneurial wave that has been sweeping the country over the past few years has found its way to tier II and tier III cities, resulting in a clutch of ventures from these towns disrupting traditional businesses.
Untapped markets, low operational costs and astute awareness of cultural preferences lend these startups a distinctive edge.
In order to support the growth of entrepreneurship in tier II and III series, The VCCircle Network is coming up with its Techcircle Startup City Tour initiative.
The inaugural edition of the initiative will be hosted in Kochi at Le Meridien Hotel on 16 June, 2016. The event will also mark the extension of Techcircle’s Southern Startup Series following an immensely successful startup event in Bengaluru in April this year.
Kerala offers a conducive ambience for startups. With government-led public private partnership (PPP) initiatives such as Startup Village, the state is already home to more than 300 startups and is poised to become the largest hub for entrepreneurial activity in southern India. The next step for these startups is to scale up business by joining hands with leading angels and venture capitalists. However, given the lack of exposure and the nascent nature of the startup ecosystem in Kerala, early-stage firms in Kerala are still figuring out ways and means to scale up their businesses and attract investors who can mentor and help transform their innovative ideas into marketable products.
In order to facilitate the growth of Kerala’s startup ecosystem and help it evolve as a major startup hub in the country, Techcircle Startup City Tour (Kochi) will bring together leading startup experts, mentors, and angel and VC investors. The event will also serve as an attractive platform for budding entrepreneurs in Kerala to connect with investors and mentors.
The major themes to be covered at the event include:
- Starting up in Kerala: Getting the basics right
- Striking the correct product market fit: Converting ideas into revenues
- Scaling up investments: Going beyond the seed stage
- Success case studies: Talks by founders of three successful startups from Kerala.
- Empowering youth: The driving force behind Kerala’s startup ecosystem.
- Women entrepreneurship: Can the startup ecosystem act as a leveller?
