Aditi Avasthi on Embibe's video learning tool and the power of personalisation

Embibe.com, an online test preparation platform, will soon integrate educational videos on its website for junior college students. Christened Learn, the video learning tool will cover about 11,000 concepts for 10th and 11th standard students, Aditi Avasthi, founder of Embibe.com, said in an interview with Techcircle.in.

"Learn will be like Khan Academy for 11th and 12th standard students," she said.

It will also allow users to search for detailed formulae, definitions and derivations from subject matter experts.

"If you can find five concepts on Khan Academy for a particular chapter, Learn will have 100 concepts," Avasthi said. Learn will be launched early next year.

Khan Academy, a US-based non-profit organisation that runs an e-learning website, recently launched its free online tutorial in Hindi. It will customise around 3,000 math videos for Indian students and focus on its 'science lab'. Khan Academy recently partnered with Tata Trusts.

Mumbai-based Individual Learning Pvt Ltd, which runs Embibe.com, is an online test prep portal that specialises in engineering entrance exams. Launched in June 2012, Embibe is a free e-tutor that uses analytics to boost preparation for engineering entrance exams. It claims to give personalised feedback to students.

The startup counts over one million students as users. Last year, the company had raised $4 million from early-stage investor Kalaari Capital and Lightbox.
