Noida-based Solvy Tech Solutions Pvt Ltd, the company behind hyperlocal mobile marketplace Zopper, has hired Ambrish Sinha as its senior vice president.

Sinha told Techcircle.in he will be heading the sales function at Zopper as part of its senior management team.

Sinha previously headed third-party distribution at Reliance Life Insurance, a joint venture between Japan’s Nippon Life and Indian financial services firm Reliance Capital.
An MBA graduate from TA Pai Management Institute, Sinha has also worked with HDFC Life Insurance, ICICI Prudential Life Insurance and TVS Motor Company.

Founded in 2011 by Surjendu Kulia and Jain, Zopper is now a mobile app-only startup that lets users explore a range of products under various categories including computers and accessories, mobile phones, home appliances, apparels and accessories, baby products, kitchen ware and more from local physical stores. It connects users to local offline retailers.

In September, Zopper had hired Harneet Singh Rajpal from Domino’s India as its chief business officer.

Formerly called Reviews42, the company rebranded itself as Zopper last year to expand its scope of operations beyond product reviews. In June, Zopper raised $20 million (Rs 127 crore) in its second round of funding from existing investors Tiger Global Management and Nirvana Venture Advisors.

In 2013, the company had raised an undisclosed amount in Series A funding from Nirvana, former Canaan India managing director Rahul Khanna (who had invested in personal capacity and now runs a separate venture debt firm) and a few other undisclosed individual investors. Blume Ventures had also participated in that round. Before that, Zopper had secured an undisclosed amount in funding from Blume Ventures and VenturEast Partners in June 2012.
