Online furniture and home design services marketplace HomeLane.com has appointed Jayanth P Mysore as its chief product officer.

Mysore, who was product manager at Google, was instrumental in launching the core features of Google Maps, Google Analytics and Google Checkout.

Srikanth Iyer, co-founder and CEO of HomeLane.com, said Mysore’s expertise in building and managing consumer-facing platforms will benefit the company.

Mysore, an MBA from Kellogg School of Management, earlier worked with organisations such as Diamond Management & Technology Consultants, Motorola and University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. He has multiple publications in peer-reviewed conferences and patents to his credit.

He has also advised Fortune 500 companies on various aspects of business strategy and operations, including market entry, mergers and acquisitions and international product rollouts.

HomeLane operates in Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, Pune and Kochi. It has about 200 employees. The company recently acquired Doowup, a yet-to-be launched home décor visualisation platform, for an undisclosed amount.

In another acquisition in the sector, Bangalore-based Livspace recently acquired YoFloor, a mobile platform that offers a virtual trial room facility for home designs.

The online furniture and home decor market in India has expanded rapidly in the past few years with several companies entering the sector. According to market research firm TechNavio, the online home décor market in the country is likely to grow at a compounded annual rate of 50.42 per cent between 2014 and 2019.

HomeLane competes with online furniture players such as FabFurnish, Pepperfry and UrbanLadder, besides horizontal e-commerce majors such as Flipkart, Snapdeal and Amazon that also have a strong grip in this space.
