Zakoopi raises $350K in seed funding from Uniqorn Ventures

VCCircle_zakoopiZakoopi Infotech Pvt Ltd, the New Delhi-based company behind offline apparel discovery platform Zakoopi, has raised $350,000 (Rs 2.3 crore) in seed funding from Uniqorn Ventures.

The company will use the funds for expansion and beefing up its product and technology teams, it said in a statement.

"After Delhi and Mumbai, we shall be in Kolkata soon, followed by other cities," said Shashank Agnihotri, founder, Zakoopi. He added that the company has released its Android app and would release the iOS app in the next few weeks.

Zakoopi was founded in 2014 by Agnihotri and Samik Sarkar. Agnihotri was previously employed with Essar Group and Feedback Ventures while Samik worked with Cognizant and Feedback Ventures.

The company enables shoppers to discover local offline apparel stores. It claims to have over 7,000 fashion retail stores mapped on its platform and is said to be present in more than 100 markets in Delhi-NCR and Mumbai. It also claims to have 1 lakh monthly users, growing at 10 per cent week-on-week basis.

"Zakoopi has developed an ideal solution to cater to the vast unorganised fashion sector," said Shiraz Bugwadia, Managing Partner at Uniqorn Ventures.

Uniqorn Ventures is a seed and early-stage venture fund that typically invests Rs 2 crore to Rs 4 crore in Indian startups.
