Lenovo Tab 2 A7-30 tablet launched for Rs 8,500 in India; XOLO unveils Win Q1000 smartphone priced at Rs 8,499

Lava's sub-brand XOLO has further expanded its range of smartphones in the country by unveiling a budget smartphone. Christened Win Q1000, the smartphone sports a 5 inch display and runs on the Windows 8.1 operating system. While the exact launch date for the device has not been announced by the company, it has been priced at Rs 8,499 in the country.

Lenovo has also launched a new tablet in the Indian market called Tab 2 A7-30. A successor to the original A7-30 tablet, the device was first unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2015 in January this year. The tablet sports a 7 inch display and runs on the Android operating system.

According to the company, the tablet will be made available in both 2G and 3G versions in India. While the 2G version will retail at Rs 8,500 in the country, the 3G version will be priced higher at Rs 11,800.

The tablet has a 7 inch IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display (1024×600 pixels resolution) and runs on the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system. It is powered by a 1.3 GHz quad-core MediaTek processor and has 1GB of RAM. The internal memory of the device is 16GB that can be further expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card.

Tab 2 A7-30 comes with a 2 megapixel rear camera that can also record videos, and a front facing VGA camera for video calling. On the connectivity front, the device has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, and 3G, as well as a microSD card slot and a microUSB port. The dimensions of the device are 190.5mm x 104.1mm x 8.9mm and its weight is 269 gm.

Lenovo has provided a 3,450 mAh battery in the device, which it claims will provide up to 8 hours of Wi-Fi browsing on a single charge. The tablet comes with GPS (with A-GPS support) and offers phone functionality, enabling users to make voice calls with 3G support (through a SIM card slot). It will be available in ebony black colour.

This one features a 5 inch HD IPS touchscreen display (1280×700 pixels resolution) with 294 ppi pixel density and is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Qualcomm MSM8212 Snapdragon 200 processor. It runs on the Windows 8.1 operating system and has 1GB of RAM. The internal memory of the device is 8GB that can be further expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card.

Win Q1000 has an 8 mega pixel autofocus rear camera (with PureCel sensor) with Flash that can record full HD videos (1080p) at 30 frames per second, and a 2MP front-facing camera for video calling. On the connectivity front, the device has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi and 3G, as well as a microSD card slot and a microUSB port. The dimensions of the device are 143mm x 71.3mm x 8.8mm.

The company has provided a 2,200 mAh battery in the device that it claims will offer up to 32 and 12 hours of talk time on 2G and 3G respectively, 26 and 4.3 hours of music & video playback, as well as 530 hours of standby time. The smartphone has GPS (with A-GPS support), and also comes with dual-SIM capability. It is available in black and white colours.

In terms of competition, the smartphone will face off against the likes of Micromax Canvas Win121 (Rs 7,790), Lava Iris Win 1 (Rs 4,999), and Microsoft's Lumia 435 and Lumia 532 that are available for Rs 5,999 and Rs 6,499 respectively.
