Chinese handset maker Oppo launches ColorOS based Mirror 3 smartphone for 16,990 in India

OppoChinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo has further expanded its range of smartphones in the Indian market with the launch of a new device. Christened Mirror 3, the smartphone runs on ColorOS v2.0.1, which is basically a customised Android operating system fully developed by the company. Targeted at the mid-price range segment of the market, the smartphone has been priced at Rs 16,990 in the country.

Originally introduced in Vietnam, the same device also retails as Oppo 3000 in the Chinese market. In India, the company already offers a number of smartphones that include N1, Ni mini, R1, R5, Find 7a, Find 5 mini, Neo, Joy and Yoyo, apart from Mirror 3.

"We are excited to introduce Mirror 3 to our picture-loving Indian customers. No matter day or night, the image quality taken from a Mirror 3 smartphone is enhanced as a result of increased CMOS sensitivity, higher resolution, and effective filtering for infrared light," said Tom Lu, CEO, Oppo Mobiles India.

The smartphone has a 4.7 inch HD IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen display (1280×720 pixels resolution) with 312 ppi pixel density and runs on the Android 4.4 KitKat OS. It is powered by a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm MSM8916 Snapdragon 410 processor and has 1GB of RAM. The internal memory of the device is 8GB that can be further expanded up to 128GB with a microSD card.

Oppo Mirror 3 has an 8MP autofocus rear camera with Sony IMX179 Backside Illuminated (BSI) sensor and LED Flash that can record videos, and a 5MP front-facing camera for video calling. Additional features of the camera include audio photo, High Dynamic Range (HDR), panorama, and GIF animation, among others. On the connectivity front, the smartphone has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi (with Wi-Fi Direct), as well as a microUSB port and a microSD card slot.

The dimensions of the device are 137mm × 68mm × 8.95 mm and its weight is 126 gm. The company has provided a 2,000 mAh battery in the device, which also has GPS (with A-GPS support) and dual-SIM capability (with dual-standby). According to the company, with its 5V-2A charger, the Mirror 3 smartphone can be fully charged within just 90 minutes. It will be available in white and grey colours.

Competition

In its price range, the smartphone will compete against the likes of Gionee Elife S5.1 (Rs 17,900), Sony Xperia SP (Rs 15,699), Lenovo S820 (Rs 15,189), Nokia Lumia 730 (Rs 14,896), and Samsung I8552 - Galaxy Grand Quattro (Rs 13,899), among others.
