Lenskart beefs up top team

Delhi -based Valyoo Technologies Pvt Ltd, the company behind the e-commerce venture Lenskart.com, has appointed Mayank Batheja as assistant vice president for its home eye checkup division.

The firm has also named Aakratee Vajpai as head of human capital department, while Anand Thakur has been appointed as assistant vice president for technology.

The announcement comes close on the heels of Lenskart's $22 million Series C fundraising from TPG Capital, Hong Kong-based TR Capital and IDG Ventures.

"The best way to utilise our funds is by investing in a strong team which is focused on solving customer problems. The recent appointments are a first step in the process of enhancing our personalised services and enlarging the scope of the business," said Peyush Bansal, CEO and founder of Lenskart.

Prior to joining Lenskart, Vajpai headed the HR division for the Delhi circle at Bharti Airtel. She holds a PG degree in HR from Management Development Institute in Gurgaon.

Batheja and Thakur have been entrepreneurs. While Bhatheja is co-founder of letsintern.com, a student-employer platform, Thakur earlier co-founded online grocery store easyration.com.

The firm was started in 2010 with Lenskart.com. It was also operating Jewelskart.com, Bagskart.com and Watchkart.com, but these businesses were shut down recently.

The company had secured $10 million in Series B led by Unilazer Ventures a couple of years ago. Previously, it had raised $4 million in Series A funding from IDG in October 2011.
