Bangalore-based Magnasoft names Shyam Ramamurthy as its CTO

Bangalore-based Magnasoft, a SaaS products and technology solutions provider, has named Shyam Ramamurthy as its chief technology officer (CTO). Ramamurthy has been associated with the company as an advisory board member, and in his new role, he will accelerate the development of Magnasoft's core technologies and products for global markets.

Commenting on the development, Bobbie Kalra, founder and CEO, Magnasoft, said, "I am pleased to have my long-time associate and friend assume the role of CTO. I am confident that his track record for innovation and technology leadership will take Magnasoft to new heights as a global product leader in the arena of child safety."

Ramamurthy has over 25 years of experience in building technology products, and prior to Magnasoft; he was the senior director of advertising platforms (engineering and product management) at Yahoo. He had joined the company back in 2007 as director and head of engineering for Yahoo Hotjobs. Before that, he was the director of engineering at Motorola EMB (earlier Symbol Technologies).

He had earlier also worked at companies like Oracle Corporation, Cygent Inc., Quark, and Infosys Technologies. He holds a Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering from Bangalore University and is pursuing a PhD in Organisational Behaviour from the Management Development Institute, Gurgaon.

Established in 2000, Magnasoft is a technology products and solutions company that offers NorthStar, an integrated Internet of Things (IoT) system which tracks and monitors children and school buses during their commute. It is a 'peace-of-mind solution' that supports the needs of children, parents, school authorities, school bus fleet owners and drivers. According to the company, NorthStar monitors over 50,000 students across 100+ schools in cities like Delhi, Chandigarh, Faridabad, Gurgaon, Lucknow, Mumbai, Pune, Raipur, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Chennai and Vishakhapatnam, among others.

Apart from India, the company also offers its NorthStar technology to schools in the Middle East and Africa. In addition to NorthStar product line, Magnasoft also provides GIS solutions to global clients. The company claims to have a team size of over 600 employees that are spread across 68 countries.
