German Amazon workers called to strike in pay dispute: Labour union Verdi has called on workers at online retailer Amazon to go on strike at five locations across Germany, as a row over pay and conditions continues.

Verdi said in a statement it had called workers to strike at distribution centres in Bad Hersfeld, Leipzig, Graben, Werne and Rheinberg. (Reuters)

Google launches Inbox app for Chrome, but it's just a glorified shortcut for now: Following the launch of Inbox on October 22, Google this week also quietly released a Chrome app for the service. You can download it now directly from the Chrome Web Store.

The app was first spotted by Inbox Guru, which incorrectly referred to it as an extension. In case you're not aware of the difference, extensions have little or no UI component and extend either the functionality of Chrome or the websites being viewed in it, while apps run inside the browser with a dedicated user interface to (hopefully) provide a richer experience.(Venture Beat)

Zuckerberg uses Chinese to tell Chinese he's hiring: Facebook Inc. (FB) Chief Executive Officer Mark Zuckerberg told students at one of China's top universities -- in Mandarin -- that the company is looking to employ the country's best engineers.

Facebook hired more than 20 students in China last month, Zuckerberg told an audience at Tsinghua University yesterday. He was cheered for speaking to the students in Chinese.(Bloomberg)
