After Moto G, Motorola's entry-level smartphone offering Moto E also goes out of stock on Flipkart.com

Moto-EEarlier today, Motorola's entry-level smartphone offering Moto E had gone on sale exclusively on Flipkart.com (at 00:01AM to be exact). The smartphone was available in black and white colours for a price of Rs 6,999. Both the variants of the device have gone 'out of stock' as of now.

Last we checked, the e-commerce site is offering a 'Notify Me' option to interested buyers in order to inform them when the smartphone will be back in stock.

In Feb this year, Flipkart.com had exclusively launched the mid-priced Moto G smartphone in the Indian market. The device, which marked the return of Motorola Mobility in the country, turned out to become a runaway success. Within minutes of the launch, the 16GB model was sold out, while only a few units of the 8GB version were left. The company re-stocked the device around the afternoon, only to see it being sold out again. The rush was so much so that the site even went down for a couple of minutes on the day of the launch.

The fact that both variants of the Moto E are already sold out on the site- with over six hours remaining in the day- could hint at a repeat performance by Motorola on Flipkart. We have already contacted the company regarding the number of devices sold till now, and how soon will it be restocked on the site, and will update the story as and when we receive them.

Specifications

Moto E has a 4.3-inch display with 960×540 pixels resolution, making it the only smartphone offering a high quality display at this price point. The dual-SIM smartphone runs on the latest Android 4.4 (KitKat) OS, and Motorola has promised that it will upgrade the smartphone to the next major version of Android. It packs a 1.2GHz dual-core Snapdragon 200 processor, with 1GB RAM and 4GB internal storage. Unlike Moto X and G, this phone supports microSD cards for further storage expansion.

E

The budget offering of Motorola sports a 5MP camera on the back, but does not have rear LED flash and front camera. Users can access the internet over 2G, 3G and Wi-Fi networks, while data can be transferred via microUSB port and Bluetooth 4.0. The smartphone has a decent 1,980mAh battery and Motorola claims it can last a whole day once fully charged. The company has used a nano-coating that will make the smartphone resistant to splashes, so that it does not get damaged in rain. Moto E is available in black and white colours, as well as swappable back covers and grip shells.

The company is also offering a number of 'first day' offers to buyers, that include 50 per cent off on a later purchase of original Moto E back covers, 50 per cent off Transcend 8GB memory card, as well as a number of free preselected eBooks worth Rs 1,000 on downloading the Flipkart eBooks app.

With the new offering, Motorola is competing with Nokia's X (Rs 7,588), as well as a number of low-end smartphones from home grown handset manufacturers like Micromax, XOLO and Karbonn, among others.
