Karbonn launches Titanium Hexa & Octane Plus smartphones for Rs 16,990 and Rs 17,990 respectively

In a bid to further expand its Titanium range of smartphones, home grown handset manufacturer Karbonn has launched not one but three new smartphones in the Indian handset market. Christened Titanium Hexa, Titanium Octane and Octane Plus, all three smartphones run on the Android operating system, and have been priced at Rs 17,990, Rs 14,490 and Rs 16,990 respectively.

The first smartphone from Karbonn to be powered by a Hexa-core processor, the Titanium Hexa sports a 5.5 inch full HD capacitive touchscreen display (1920×1080 pixels resolution) and runs on the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system. It is powered by a 1.5 GHz Hexa-core processor and has 2 GB of RAM. The internal memory of the device is 16GB, which can be further expanded up to 32GB.

In terms of camera, this one boasts of a 13MP auto focus rear camera with Flash that can also record videos, and a 5MP front facing camera for video calling. The camera also comes with a smile detection feature with auto capture functionality, as well as object tracking and face detection ability. On the connectivity front, the device has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, and 3G. The smartphone measures 154 mm x 76.8 mm x 6.9 mm and has GPS with voice assist. Karbonn has also provided a 2,050 mAh battery in the device.

The Titanium Octane Plus sports a 5 inch full HD IPS capacitive touchscreen display (1920×1080 pixels resolution) and runs on the Android 4.4 KitKat operating system. It is powered by a 1.7 GHz Octa-core processor and has 2 GB of RAM. The internal memory of the device is 16GB, which can be further expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card.

This one has a 16MP auto focus rear camera with Flash that can also record videos, and an 8MP front facing camera for video calling. On the connectivity front, the device has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, and 3G. The smartphone measures 147 mm x 72.6 mm x 7.6 mm and the company has also provided a 2,000 mAh battery in the device.

In comparison, Titanium Octane comes with a 5 inch HD capacitive touchscreen display (1280x720 pixel resolution) and runs on the Android 4.4 KitKat OS. It is also powered by a 1.7 GHz Octa-core processor, however has only 1GB of RAM. The internal memory of the device is 16GB, which can be further expanded up to 32GB with a microSD card.

Karbonn had earlier entered into a license and distribution agreement with txtWeb, a text-based app platform from Intuit Inc. to make available a range of apps via the txtWeb app platform on Karbonn phones. As part of the agreement, Karbonn phone users will have access to information ranging from academic content, social networking, sports, breaking news, financial tools, games and more, through a simple SMS at 50 paise per query, or Rs 1 per day for unlimited queries on subscription.
