Canvas KnightAfter introducing the same in the Russian market in Jan this year, homegrown handset and tablet manufacturer Micromax has now launched the Canvas Knight A350 smartphone in the Indian market. The first device from Micromax to run on an octa-core processor, the smartphone also sports a 16MP camera. It is currently available exclusively on the company's online store for a price of Rs 19,999.

Micromax had entered the Russian market in Jan 2014. In the country, the company is operating through a partnership with VVP Group- one of the leading distribution houses in Russia- and is introducing its Canvas series of smartphones and Bolt series of smart-feature phones. Here is a look at the specifications of Canvas Knight A350.

The smartphone sports a 5 inch FHD IPS touchscreen display (1920x1080 pixels resolution) and runs on the Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean operating system. It is powered by a 2GHz MT6592T octa-core processor and has 2GB of RAM. The internal memory of the device is 32GB (1.5GB for applications and 25GB for mass storage), which cannot be expanded further. Although with 32GB, we don't actually see a requirement for the same as well.

Canvas Knight has a 16MP autofocus rear camera with Flash that can record full high definition videos (1080p) at 30 frames per second, and an 8MP front facing camera for video calling that can also record videos. On the connectivity front, the device comes with Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, 3G and it also comes with a microUSB port.

Micromax has provided a 2,350 mAh battery in the device that it claims will provide up to 7.5 hours of talk time and 175 hours of stand by time. It comes with FM radio and has GPS (with A-GPS support). It will be available in black & gold, white & gold, and full black colours. The company has also pre-loaded a number of apps and games in the device including Hike, Spuul, Opera, M! Live, M! Security, M! Vault, Real Steel, Where's my water, Where's my Perry, GetIt, BBM, True caller, and Kingsoft Office, among others.

While the smartphone offers very good specifications on paper, it will be interesting to see whether it will be able to deliver when it comes to real-world usage. In terms of competition, in its price range, Canvas Knight will face off against the likes of Samsung Galaxy Grand 2 (Rs 20,565), XOLO Q3000 (Rs 20,478), Intex Aqua Octa (Rs 19,645), Nokia Lumia 1320 (Rs 21,263), LG G Pro Lite D686 (Rs 19,990), and Sony Xperia SP (Rs 20,810), among others. However, with the exception of Intex Aqua Octa (which has a 1.7GHz octa-core processor), all the other smartphones mentioned above are powered by either a dual-core or a quad-core processor.
