HTC launches new Desire range 501, 601 & 700 in India, starting at Rs 16,890

Taiwanese manufacturer HTC has launched a number of mid-price range (Rs 15,000 to Rs 35,000) smartphones in the Indian market. Christened Desire 501, 601 and 700, the smartphones have been priced at Rs 16,890, Rs 24,190 and Rs 33,050 respectively, and will be available in the coming days. While Desire 501 and 601 should be available for purchase starting Dec 13, Desire 700 will be launched closer to Christmas (Dec 25, 2013).

The smartphone sports a 4.3 inch Super LCD2 WVGA capacitive touchscreen display (800 x 480 pixels resolution). It is powered by a 1.15 GHz dual-core processor and runs on the Android 4.1 operating system (with HTC Sense 4.0+ user interface). It has 1GB of RAM and comes with 8GB of internal memory that can be expanded up to 64GB with a microSD card.

Desire 501 has an 8 megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED Flash (with BSI sensor for better low-light captures) that can record high definition videos (720p) at 30 frames per second, and a 2.1 MP front-facing camera for video calling. On the connectivity front, the device has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, and 3G, and comes with a microSD card slot. The dimensions of the device are 128.5mm x 66.9mm x 9.8 mm and its weight is 130 gm. The company has provided a 2,100 mAh battery in the device, which also comes with Near Field Communication (NFC), has Dual-SIM capability, and will be available in blue colour.

This one sports a 4.5 inch qHD capacitive touchscreen display (540 x 960 pixels resolution). It is powered by a 1.4 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 dual-core processor and runs on the Android operating system with HTC Sense. It has 1GB of RAM and comes with 8GB of internal memory that can be expanded up to 64GB with a microSD card.

The smartphone has a 5 megapixel autofocus rear camera with Smart Flash (five levels of flash automatically set by distance to subject). It also comes with a BSI sensor, HTC ImageChip, F2.0 aperture, and HTC Zoe. The rear camera can record full high definition videos (1080p) at 30 frames per second, as well as slow motion video with variable speed playback. It also has a front facing VGA camera for video calling.

On the connectivity front, the device has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, 3G and 4G, and comes with a microSD card slot. The dimensions of the device are 134.5mm x 66.7mm x 9.88 mm and its weight is 130 gm. The company has provided a 2,100 mAh battery that it claims will provide up to 12.8 hours of talk time and 440 hours of stand by time. It comes with dual-SIM capability, A-GPS support and DLNA, but no NFC.

The smartphone also features BoomSound- features dual frontal stereo speakers that deliver less distortion and finer sound detail; and HTC BlinkFeed- delivers social updates, news updates and photos directly to the smartphones home screen.

Desire 700 for Rs 33,050

The smartphone sports a 5 inch qHD capacitive touchscreen display (540 x 960 pixels resolution) and is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core processor. It runs on the Android operating system with HTC Sense user interface and has 1GB of RAM. In terms of internal memory, this one also has 8GB that can be expanded up to 64GB with a microSD card.

Desire 700 has an 8 megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED Flash that can record full HD videos (1080p) at 30 frames per second, and a 2.1 MP front facing camera for video calling. Both the cameras come with BSI sensor; while the rear camera also has a dedicated HTC ImageChip, F2.0 aperture, smart Flash, and HTC Zoe (with features like sequence shot, always smile, and object removal).

On the connectivity front, the device has Bluetooth 4.0, Wi-Fi, 3G and 4G, and comes with a microSD card slot. The dimensions of the device are 145.5mm x 72mm x 10.3 mm and its weight is 150 gm. The company has provided a 2,100 mAh battery in this one as well, which it claims will that provide up to 8 hours of talk time and 338 hours of stand by time. It comes with GPS (with A-GPS support), DLNA, and dual-SIM capability, but no NFC. This one also features BoomSound and HTC BlinkFeed.
