KartRocket betting big on value-added features, to cross 1k live stores in six months

Delhi-based Bigfoot Retail Pvt Ltd that runs DIY e-commerce platform KartRocket (earlier known as SmartStore) is looking to become India’s very own Magento. The SaaS-based platform that helps SMBs to come online and set up shop was started in 2011 by the duo Saahil Goel and Gautam Kapoor.

What it claims to be its USP as against other such platforms like Infibeam’s Build-a-bazaar, MartJack, Zepo, etc is the value-added services it provides without any additional cost. Along with setting up an online shop, the platform provides services like a number of store-front designs, domestic and international payment options, a shipping platform (ShipRocket) integrated with domestic and international logistic carriers, as well as a single shipping dashboard that helps SMEs manage their shipping and returns. Stores on KartRocket are already mobile ready, and the company also helps SMEs sell more (and gain new customers) by integrating the ability to sell and manage orders across leading marketplaces such as eBay and Amazon at the click of a button.

The startup recently raised its first round of funding from 5ideas Startup Superfuel and 500 Startups. In a chat, Kapoor, co-founder and COO, KartRocket talks how the firm has been using the capital raised and its near-term expansion goals.
