In November last year, the company also appointed Rishi Jaitly as its director for the India market.

In April this year, Twitter released Twitter #music, a new service that enables its users to discover music. The service leverages Twitter activity (including Tweets and engagement) to detect and display the most popular tracks and emerging artistes. It also enables one to visit a favourite artiste's profile, find out whom they follow and listen to songs by those artistes as well.

In the same month, Twitter also added around 160 new locations (including seven Indian cities) to its Trends feature, enabling users to track what's trending locally in any of these cities. A total of 21 Indian cities currently figure in the Trends feature including Ahmedabad, Amritsar, Bangalore, Bhopal, Chennai, Delhi, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kanpur, Kolkata, Lucknow, Mumbai, Nagpur, Patna, Pune, Rajkot, Ranchi, Srinagar, Surat and Thane. Before that, the company made its 'archiving tool' available in 12 non-English languages including Hindi, among others.
