Galaxy-Grand-QuattroAfter launching Galaxy Core earlier this month, Samsung has extended its offerings in the mid-range segment yet again with the launch of Samsung Galaxy Grand Quattro in India. With this new launch, the number of smartphones from the house of Samsung has gone up to 14, in the broad price range between Rs 5,990 and Rs 41,500. Here are the specifications of the latest addition:

Galaxy Grand Quattro has a 4.7 inch TFT multi-touch capacitive touchscreen display (480×800 pixel resolution) and runs on the Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean operating system. The handset has a 1.2GHz quad-core processor. It has 1 GB RAM and comes with 8 GB of internal memory. There is also a microSD slot to expand the device memory by 32 GB.

On the camera front, the smartphone has a five-megapixel autofocus rear camera with LED Flash, 720p HD video recording and a 0.3 megapixel front-facing VGA camera for video calling. As for connectivity, the device has Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi and 3G. It is powered by a 2,000 mAh battery and comes with GPS (with A-GPS support). Galaxy Quattro is 9.65mm thick and weighs 143.9 grams. The phone comes pre-loaded with additional features like Samsung Hubs (for music, games and reading), the company's instant messaging app ChatON and Motion UI, which activates common functions such as refresh or mute with simple motion commands.

Samsung has priced this one at Rs 17,290 and in an introductory offer the handset comes with a digital wallet of Rs 3,000 valid for 90 days applicable on games. This is possibly one of the cheapest quad-core smartphones from Samsung. By launching a phone in the price range, Samsung is keen to combat the competition posed by native players like Micromax, Karbonn and Lava. The new range of phablets by Micromax under the brand Canvas is finding a lot of takers and Samsung looks keen to break into that market share.
