Young India downloads privacy related apps the most: Nokia Mobisight

Despite being gung-ho about social networks, youngsters in the country are more than cautious about their privacy, as revealed by the bi-annual Nokia Mobisight mobile internet user survey.

The survey for June-December 2012 period states that more apps related to privacy were downloaded than any other services from Nokia during the period.

Not only that, phone security apps occupy four places in the top five apps downloaded, as per the survey.

The report also revealed that the social media reigns over the mobile landscape. And perhaps, in a warning signal to search giant Google, it says users are accessing Facebook more than searching on Google via mobile.

Interestingly, watching videos on mobile is the hottest activity. Video portals like YouTube, Tubidy and VuClip are listed in top ten sites accessed on the Nokia browser, stated the survey.

Nokia Life has seen maximum subscription of 'agriculture' amongst other life enhancing services. Nokia Life is a tool in Nokia mobile phones which provides regular localised life related information like education, health, agriculture and entertainment.

And curiously enough, while cricket is considered a religion in India, users are more hooked onto car racing and superhero games than Cricket via Nokia Store.

India's mobile users are accessing internet after their school, college and office hours, with peak access times ranging from 7:30 p.m, to 10:30 p.m. Nokia Browser has the highest number of active users from Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra and Andhra Pradesh.

Soundtracks of the Bollywood movie Student of the Year, Justin Beiber's 'Boyfriend' and Priyanka Chopra's debut single 'In My City' tops in the Nokia music store download charts, as per the survey.
