Mobile app developer Webonise buys Sapna Infotech's consulting and development arm

Pune-based mobile app developer Webonise Software Solutions Pvt Ltd has acquired the consulting and development unit of web development company, Sapna Infotech Pvt Ltd , for an undisclosed amount.

The three-year-old startup said the deal is aimed at gaining a foothold in non-English speaking European markets and also to acquire Sapna's experienced talent pool.

"There are lot of similarities between Webonise and Sapna in terms of culture and knowhow. To top it up, Sapna's team had top talent in open source technology space. In this sense the acquisition makes perfect sense," said Shardul Mohite,  CEO, Webonise.

Set up in November 2009, Pune-based Webonise is a design and engineering firm operating in the consumer internet and mobile app space. The acquisition of Sapna is part of its larger expansion plans. The company's staff strength will cross 100 with this agreement. Webonise counts companies including MakeMyTrip, Honeywell, TriplePoint, YourNextLeap among its clients. It claimed that it posted a 3X revenue growth in FY2012 and is now set to register 6X growth in the current fiscal.

Based in Pune, Sapna Infotech is an Indo-European development company that builds web, social and mobile apps and provides product development services. The company is currently working on eduVee, a one-to-one learning platform that enables teachers to upload learning material and create subjects, modules and lessons, which students can playfully study with a quiz.
