Apple launches iPad mini in India; price starts at Rs 21,900

After a lot of rumours and speculations, Apple has finally launched iPad mini in India. The smaller version of the iPad, the tech giant's popular tablet offering, comes with a 7.9 inch screen and is powered by Apple's dual-core A5 processor. The cheapest version of the tablet is priced at Rs 21,900 while the top-end version will cost you as much as Rs 41,900.

The Wi-Fi only version of the mini tablet is available at Rs 21,900 (16 GB), Rs 27,900 (32 GB) and Rs 33,900 (64 GB) while the Wi-Fi+cellular version is priced at Rs 29,900 (16 GB), Rs 35,900 (32 GB) and Rs 41,900 (64 GB). In contrast, it is at least Rs 4,000-6,000 cheaper in the US. Therefore, if your friends or relatives happen to be there, don't forget to ask them to get one for you. But before you make up your mind to buy one, here's a quick look at the specs.

The mini tablet features a 7.9 inch LED-backlit multi-touch touchscreen display (1024x768 resolution) with IPS technology and is powered by Apple's dual-core A5 processor. Users can opt for 16GB, 32 GB and 64 GB of internal memory which is non-expandable.

The device sports a 5 megapixel iSight camera that can record full high definition videos (1080p) and a front-facing 1.2 megapixel FaceTime camera that can also record HD videos (720p). Plus, it has Bluetooth 4.0 and comes in a Wi-Fi only and a Wi-Fi+cellular model.

The iPad mini measures 200mm x 134.7mm x 7.2mm and weighs 308 gm. According to the company, its battery can provide up to 10 hours of web surfing (on Wi‑Fi), video watching and music.
