Naukri owner Info Edge's Q2 total income up 17.3% at Rs 107.8Cr, real estate vertical grew 52%

Info Edge (India) Ltd, the largest consumer internet firm in India by market value which runs sites such as Naukri.com and 99acres.com, recorded around 18 per cent rise in both revenue and net profit in the second quarter ended September 30, over the same period last year. The consumer internet firm's revenue and profit inched up sequentially over the three-month period ended June 30, 2012.

The company witnessed 17.3 per cent growth in standalone total income to Rs 107.8 crore over Q2 of last year and 18 per cent growth in net profit to Rs 33.31 crore in the same period.

Income growth was almost flat (at 1.8 per cent) sequentially while net profit rose around 4.8 per cent over the quarter ended June 30.

The company was getting a boost in the bottom line from the dividend income from mutual fund investments, etc.

Standalone results of the company include revenues from its primary recruitment business Naukri.com, NaukriGulf.com, Quadrangle, Job Seeker Services and Firstnaukri.com, besides Jeevansathi.com, 99acres, Shiksha.com and Brijj.com.

However, revenues of its seven subsidiaries are not part of the standalone results. These include Naukri Internet Services Pvt Ltd and Jeevansathi Internet Services Pvt Ltd (which own internet domain names of Naukri.com and Jeevansathi.com, respectively, as well as related trademarks, while operations are under the parent company), Allcheckdeals, Info Edge (India) Mauritius Ltd (set up to make overseas investments), Info Edge USA Inc., Applect (Meritnation.com) and Etechaces (Policybazaar.com).

In the last quarter, Info Edge invested Rs 35 crore in online photography company Canvera, put Rs 5 crore more in fashion e-tailer 99labels.com and invested Rs 12.86 crore more in Zomato, taking its stake in the restaurant listing site to 48.5 per cent.

Earlier this month, Info Edge acquired the business of Toostep Consultancy Pvt Ltd on a slump sale basis. Toostep has developed a software as a service (SaaS) platform that enables recruiters to promote jobs on social networking sites and search engines and also to manage the response received.
