Reado partners with Simon & Schuster to sell audiobooks in India

New Delhi-based audiobooks brand Reado, which has recently launched its e-commerce website Reado.com, has inked a deal with one of the leading audiobook publisher, Simon & Schuster Audio.

This strategic partnership entitles Reado to distribute and sell 2000 audiobooks produced by Simon & Schuster Audio in India in digital (MP3) format that can be downloaded from Reado's website. Popular categories such as bestselling fiction, nonfiction, business, self-improvement, inspiration, language learning programmes, original audiobook productions, and children's titles will be made available to book lovers in India through this deal.

On partnering with Simon & Schuster Audio, founder of Reado, Sumit Suneja said in a statement, "This partnership makes us the biggest audiobooks brand in the Indian market. We expect to see an increase of 50–60 per cent in the audiobooks sales for us in the next two quarters."

Reado has earlier partnered with Penguin, Hachette, Audibles.com amongst others to introduce as many genres as possible for its listeners.

Commenting on the tie-up with Reado, Ken Oxenreider, director- audio sales at Simon and Schuster said, "Our extensive digital title categories include personal development, business, motivation, meditation, children's, general fiction, history, biographies and mysteries."

Launched in September 2010, Reado is a part of Eagle Home Entertainment and claims to be India's first audiobooks brand. Its audiobooks, in the form of MP3 CDs, are available at all major offline and online stores including Flipkart, Crossword, Landmark, Reliance Time Out, Om Book Shop, Media Mart and WHSmith. Users of Reado.com will be able to browse through their e-Bookstand, pay and download the audiobook in MP3 format and play it on any device which supports the format. Reado retails its audio books from over 200 stores across India, including online retailing through Flipkart.com and offline through leading books stores like Crossword, Landmark, Reliance Time Out, Om Book Shop, Media Mart and WHSmith.
