Cloud-based managed security services provider, Nevales Networks, has launched its next generation security gateway device that provides higher density and faster performance to its SMB (small and mid-sized business) clients. The Mumbai-based startup, which recently was listed in Techcircle.com's Top 10 SaaS Startups in India, has also unveiled its new brand.

The smartphone-sized device, Nevales SG, is a combination of on-premise security gateway appliance and cloud services and comes with built-in support for wiredline and wireless technologies including 2G, 3G, 4G and Wi-Fi. With its futuristic form factor and smart design, the device can be easily wall mounted, Nevales claimed.

The new security gateway device integrates security features, such as Firewall, VPN, Intrusion Detection, Anti-Virus, Anti-Spam, Surf Detection, Spyware Guarding, Access Management, Bandwidth Management, Traffic Monitoring and Efficient Reporting in a single management platform and is available on a subscription model.

"Our next generation Security Gateway has been designed to address the security and connectivity issues for emerging businesses. With the new Security Gateway, Nevales further extends its vision on how we can help emerging businesses to increase productivity and grow securely, with security as an enabler," said Kaushik Thakkar, co-founder and head of Corporate Development at Nevales Networks.

A fanless device, Nevales SG can withstand a temperature of up to 50 degrees. The Intel Atom Processor E600 Series technology in the device enables Nevales SG with faster computing, less heat and better energy efficiency. The device also provides realtime dynamic protection, reduces cost and complexities with its single security solution.

Unveiling the new brand, its CEO and co-founder Ravishankar said, "With consumerization of IT, the new era is on, in which we're reimagining how our products and services can help emerging businesses throughout India to realize their full potential," said. "Considering the growth potential of the emerging businesses that India is bound to witness, the need to have a brand that can stand as an independent entity was strongly felt. This change was important as the company was ready for official launch and public availability".

Founded in January 2010, Nevales provides 24X7 network security support services on the Cloud. The company's offering is subscription-based and is free of maintenance, licensing and scalability issues. The company was set up by Kaushik Thakkar, a seasoned entrepreneur, Sunija Rishi, a marketing specialist, and Ravishankar, who was with the founding team at Yes Bank.

In April 2011, Nevales raised an undisclosed funding from Seedfund. It mainly caters to sectors like education, healthcare, travel, finance, manufacturing and automobile, and hopes to target at least 1 lakh of the 35 million SMBs in India over the next five years.
