Chat & mobile calling app firm Nimbuzz claims to cross 100M user mark

Instant messaging and mobile calling application firm Nimbuzz, which has recently shifted its headquarters from the Netherlands to Gurgaon (Delhi-NCR), claims to become the first India-headquartered Internet company to cross the 100 million user mark.

In June last year, we reported that Nimbuzz had reached the 50 million mark in terms of registered users worldwide, which means the company has added another 50 million users over the past 13 months – an average of 3.8 million users a month or 1.2 lakh users per day.

Nimbuzz addresses the global demand for data usage and happens to be the only multi-lingual solution provider, offering more than 25 regional languages. It provides a single tool for making voice and video peer-to-peer calls, sending instant messages and sharing data via all major communications platforms – be it mobile devices or desktops – for free.

The company enables communication across major platforms, via instant messengers like MSN, Google Talk and Yahoo; social networks like Facebook and Twitter; and mobile platforms like iOS, Android, Symbian, Windows Phone, BlackBerry and J2ME, as well as Windows, Mac and the Web. It claims to have built a strong developer channel with local carriers and global OEMs.

Vikas Saxena, the new CEO of Nimbuzz, said, "Families and friends are attempting to communicate with each other through mobile devices around the world, but many operating systems and communication platforms require the use of large amount of expensive data. Nimbuzz bridges this gap by providing a single platform at low-to-no cost, across any device and in any form of voice, video, file-sharing and more. We are powering a global network of connected mobile users."
