The company has partnered with all major telecom providers for offering mobile recharge and has built its own payment gateway for the same, said Manmohan Aggarwal, founder & CEO, Yebhi.com. “It is Yebhi’s answer to Flipkart’s Flyte and our first offering in the virtual products suite with many more to come,” he told Techcircle.in.
Aggarwal said the makeover is the result of over 7-8 months of work and the company aims to build the site as the first social shopping website with “all the like or dislike and commenting features”.
Mobile recharge could well turn out to be a big business for Yebhi leveraging on virtual footfalls on the portal. But it would face competition with brand recall and marketing bucks invested by the likes of Paytm. Either way, it opens a new category to bring additional revenues for the firm.
In the meantime, the older version of the portal has given way for a newer user interface which has bigger pictures of items, allows liking or disliking and comments on the items (similar to having a rating button with a social networking twist).
Apart from the look and feel, Yebhi has also added an EMI feature for all products plus a “try and buy” feature, wherein you can order the product try it and then decide to buy it (pay for it) or reject it (return).
Earlier this month, the company raised Series C round of funding led by Fidelity and Qualcomm Ventures. Aggarwal maintained that the funds raised will be used for strengthening the supply chain.
The new UI is definitely few notches higher than the previous one and navigation is smoother. Many portals have been betting on better, smoother interface recently. Smile Group’s flash sales site Fashionandyou rebranded and revamped its portal completely. In fact, it even runs a contest wherein any user who can spot a bug in the portal stands to win some rewards. Keep watching the space for more on e-commerce startups.
