NASDAQ-listed online travel services firm MakeMyTrip (MMT) has launched mobile apps for Android devices and iPhone and an upgraded HTML 5-based mobile site for smartphones. The app allows users to search and book flights. Through the app, passenger details will also be stored on the device to avoid having to type in the details every time. It also provides additional travel-solutions -- users can view booking details, make cancellations, request e-tickets and even track refunds.

Following the launch of the Blackberry app earlier, this marks a comprehensive mobile suite from MakeMyTrip.

Amit Somani, chief products officer, MakeMyTrip, said in a statement, "MakeMyTrip became one of the top five most-downloaded travel apps in India with only the Blackberry app on offer. This overwhelming response encouraged us to extend our product offering to other popular mobile platforms. With this launch, all smartphone users will now be able to have a seamless experience with MakeMyTrip through their devices."

MMT claims that mobile transactions made through it's apps are fully secure and supported by all modes of payment – Credit Card and Debit Cards of all major banks as well as NetBanking.

In addition, the app also provides alerts on updated flight schedules and checking the status of a flight with real time flight schedules. Users can also receive details on exclusive travel deals and also get personalised deal notifications.

The app also lets users share their itineraries on Facebook and Twitter, thereby enabling them to share instant travel updates. Going beyond ticketing and planning travel, the application also uses the device's GPS capabilities to find nearby restaurants.
